Classes: the Hebrew Bible, Jews and the Colonial Era

Below is a description of a series of classes about the Hebrew Bible, Jews and Colonial America. The first class covers how early colonists had a strong connection to the Hebrew Bible; its stories deeply inspired them in their new ventures in the New World. Did the colonists’ love of the Hebrew Bible lead them to accept Jews who settled in their communities? The second pair of classes sheds light on this question by exploring the early Jewish colonists; both topics demonstrate that our Jewish stories and the Jewish presence mattered in the formation of the United States.
